Case Study: How a golf retailer replaced EDI

Jan 24, 2026

Ordersync case study

Ordersync helped a large golf retailer automate custom club orders without EDI - launching in days and reducing order errors immediately.

Ordersync started partnering with a large golf retailer months after they’ve been working with SPS Commerce to implement EDI for special orders.

2nd Swing Case Study

The Problem Retailers Face

  • Manual order re-entry, back and forth

  • Product data discrepancies (wrong SKU, Out of Stock Products, missing fields)

  • Time lost fixing orders

  • Customer service inbound on status updates

Many think EDI is the solution - but EDI:

  • Takes months or longer to implement

  • Costs ongoing VAN and partner fees

  • Does not catch bad data

Stage 1: Quick Set Up Without Engineering

Instead of a traditional EDI setup, OrderSync connected to the golf retailers’ OEMs as an authorized agent through their existing B2B portals.

OrderSync then received a daily feed of special orders directly from the retailer via:

  • POS / ERP API, or

  • Automated CSV email

From there, orders flowed end-to-end quickly.

To ensure accuracy at scale, every order runs through a human-in-the-loop workflow:

  • Orders are validated against OEM requirements and availability

  • Data issues are identified immediately

  • Retailers are contacted and issues resolved within hours using a defined SOP

This allowed the retailer to automate order submission without sacrificing accuracy, while avoiding the months-long setup and cost of EDI.

Stage 2: Scaling to 1,000+ Orders per Month

Once live, OrderSync rapidly expanded coverage across key OEMs to support both order submission and order status at production volume.

The system now handles over 3,000+ special orders per month with:

  • Consistent validation

  • Reliable submission processes

  • Ongoing status updates

This is not a pilot or limited rollout. OrderSync is already operating at scale.

We are expanding our OEM and Industry Distributor coverage every month. Today we already cover all major OEMs.

Stage 3: Expanded Usage Across All Orders

After operating OrderSync at scale, the golf retailer chose to expand their use of the platform.

OrderSync is now being extended beyond special orders to:

  • Handle all purchase orders, including stock products

  • Provide order updates across the full PO lifecycle

  • Support invoice data in partnership

This expansion reflects increased confidence in OrderSync as the system of execution for purchasing — not just a point solution.
